The King’s Speech: The Book

Following on the WWII theme of Churchill by Paul Johnson, I took up digesting  The King’s Speech. Like the film starring Colin Firth, the book centers on journey of George VI in overcoming his stammer and the man, Lionel Logue, who helped effect the transformation.

The book proved an enjoyable biography of both men, highlighting their interactions. Written in part by a descendant of Lionel, the narrative gives a glowing tribute to the ancestor and is almost a vicarious memoir.
